Veterinary Technology Program

Our veterinary technicians are graduates of our two-year Associate’s Degree program. Upon graduation, students are prepared for post-graduation employment in a multitude of veterinary employment fields, including veterinary offices, biological research facilities, drug and feed manufacturing companies, academic institutions, and environmental and health organizations. Currently, the veterinary technician job market in Connecticut provides our graduates with a vast number of job openings throughout the state.

Our AVMA fully accredited program provides our students with an abundance of both technical and administrative skills, allowing for immediate job entry-level competence. Technicians interested in becoming certified in Connecticut are required to achieve a qualifying score on the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).

Our on-campus facilities not only have well-equipped student laboratories, but include a small simulated animal hospital with treatment, surgery, and radiograph rooms. Students are therefore able to obtain real-life veterinary hospital experience. In addition, farm calls, field trips, and on-campus speakers and seminars add to the learning experience of our veterinary technician students. During the last semester of the program, students are required to fulfill an externship in which, through affiliation with an off-campus, fully functioning animal hospital, they must perform a multitude of technical tasks.
