WEBSITE OF THE WEEK

Featuring websites that we think are outstanding in some way . . .

scholarly, practical, or just plain fun.

TWO on ANIMAL ADOPTION

  The Humane Society

            http://humanesociety.org

 The Shelter Pet Project

            http://theshelterpetproject.org

If you’re planning to add a pet to your family and are interested in exploring the possibilities of adopting, rather than buying, consider these two websites. The Humane Society , a strong voice for animal protection, spearheads numerous campaigns, including the advocacy of the shelter pet movement. The site’s “Find an Animal” link offers advice on the care and training of new pets and encourages individuals to sign an “Adoption Pledge.” For additional material on the subject, visit The Shelter Pet Project.  Make sure your computer’s speakers are on to fully benefit from (and enjoy) the website, as much of the information is presented by talking dogs – yes, talking dogs. The site will link you to local shelters, provide resources on adoption, and answer questions about pets. It’s a whimsical website that’s full of serious content!
